Happy New Year guys

For me 2009 went oput kicking and screaming!!

Went to the Lake District for a 5 night stay near Ambleside.

The day we were going the the compressed air bag suspension on rear drivers side bust so tried to get it fixed but had to leave the car at the garage and hiore car to go.

Trying to hire a car on 30 december not good but found a Vectra at Enterprise. Got a lift up there with luggage only to find that the car they went to pick up from the docks was missing Grrr so no more cars available. Found another a few miles away through National and went there. The guy was not going to hire it to me because my passport and drivers licence was not enough evidence of who i was, he wanted a utility bill too. Had an epileptic fit in his office and he changed his mind. Only could get a Peugot 308 but it was brand new so sett off for the lakes.

Next... got half way across the A66 about 7 miles from Brough and found there was a 10 car pile up and the snow was drifting in the road so Police shut the road. Turned back to Scotch corner and took A1 up to Hexham then A69 to Carlisle the M6 down to lakes (150 mile detour!!!)

Next.....Fucking TomTom took me up Kirkstone Pass got 3 miles away from Hotel and the snow had blocked the road. Car in front of me was stuck in the snow so dug him and his gf out and got him back on the road. Walked back to car and the wind took the car door which smacked me in the eyebrow and split it wide open. Lots of blood and no tissues. Finally found a towel in our luggage. had to reverse for 2 miles to get somwhere wide enough to turn the car around. All the while having to stop to help the guy in front who kept going into the snow because he couldn't reverse for shit mind you they were from southern ireland. Had to do another 34 mile detour to get to hotel.

Set off at 3:30 and got to Hotel at 22:10 usually takes about 2 hours!!

Hotel was great and we got into bedrrom 1 Click Me

Ambleside was badly hit with snow and ice...the council dont seem to like to grit these roads and especially their car parks which were 4 inches thick in ice and we still had to pay to park!!!

After the first day though the rest of our break went really well.

temperatures were between -8 and -10 all week but I managed to get some good photos
